EVERYONES UGLY - UGLY FISH ARMOUR (SAFETY GLASSES)

Photobucket

For the past few years I have been an Ugly Athlete, typically like most blokes I'm one for life anyway (well my missus thinks so). Trips away with mates fishing for days on end, no showers, no facilities and worst of all no mobile reception. Sure, every now and then trips away may involve cabin styled luxury but that doesn't mean I'm catching up on my beauty sleep now does it? More often than not its swagging under the stars freezing my nuts off or trying to cram myself into the boot of my car, all for the wants and needs of an angling junkie.

The problem with this sort of rough and tumble adventures is I spend far too much time packing fishing related gear and less time organising food specs and other important items such as phone chargers, toothpaste and face wash (Told you I'm ugly). I never forget my sunnies though and keep my UF Tornado set in the car permanently, leaving my UF High Tides for day to day use laying round the house. Unfortunately my 19 month old Daughter Phoebe now also thinks she's ugly too and constantly tries to wear them, or hide them, depending on her mood.

One weekend when I returned from fishing I left the Tornados on the bench, Phoebe decided she liked the look of all my sunnies and hid both pairs. Luckily as I work full time in the Construction industry I have a pair of UF Armour safety glasses, so rather than tear my hair out looking for the other two sets I armoured up for the week on site and off. I might of lost some fancy polarising factors but the smoked grey lens and comfy fit kept them worn enough to not notice too much of a difference outside of work in mother natures environment.

The following weekend I was off kayak fishing as usual but still couldn't find those bloody sunnies. I'm pretty careful when I wear them on the yak and always have a floating lanyard/strap attached (I lost a pair about 6 years ago to the deep), mainly due to the cost of replacement. I had no choice but to take the Armours out and was pleasantly surprised at how well they performed. The detachable foam inserts gave the glasses plenty of breathing room around my eye sockets with the bonus of very little to nil fogging. They stayed on my head when my hat couldn't, turned out they were perfect for a day's kayak fishing.

You know the crazy thing is I have seen these in stores before and the shape and styling's just screamed fishing, but were either safety or motorcycle related. Almost like a half goggle, be it speeding in your boat or surf launching your kayak when the wind is up and the water frothing hard the UF Armour eyewear foam inserts will not only shield my eyes from stray metal fragments at work but also protect them from the elements whilst on the water.

Why am I telling you all this, you can judge for yourself I hear you say. Well the main reason is the price of these bad boys, compared to what else is out there on the market. Ugly Fish sunglasses have always been competitively priced but the Armours were so cheap I had to look twice. At only $34.00 dollars you can be complacent, that ridiculous price is on par with any servo sunnies (That you would have to run and buy anyway if you forgot your daily's/weekenders) with far greater attributes.

Take a look at your current sunglasses, what did they cost you, $300, $400 dollars, and you take them out on the kayak?.What's that, this is your third pair, you lost some over the side? Your daughter hid the previous pair under the wheel of your car? (Don't worry, I found both mine recently under the couch). Man your crazy, at that price everyone can afford to be looking ugly on the water 100 x over, and the uglier the better in my opinion (Everyone's ugly, right?).

To cut a long story short the High Tides are inside back on the man shelf, Tornados living back in the car along with the Armours and the rest of my work PPE (Personal protective equipment). Reason being I can't go to work without the PPE and I can't go fishing without the Tornados. Every time I go fishing I start patting your pockets and searching the car, Keys check, wallet check, phone check, Sunnies... check. At least now if I stumble in after a massive yakking weekend and she nabs the sunnies again I know the Armours will do the job exceptionally well.
