SQUIDGY SOUTHERN BREAM SERIES GRAND FINAL

Last weekend the grand final tournament weekend of the 2012 Squidgy Southern Bream Series was held and won at St Georges Basin/Shoalhaven River. I have heard the fishing was tough but the event spectacular, something the SSBS committee should be well and truly proud of. 50 boats and 25 kayakers took to the systems to fight it out for the podium with Stewart Dunn once again trumping the field.

Jason Reid claimed second overall and also came away with the angler of the year. Never say die Luke Kay managed third place, a great effort for a well travelled man. Good mate Jason Price caught a thumper of a Bream weighing a smidge over 1.3kg and securing Big Bream for day one (Biggest fish of the tournament, boaters included). Some good bags graced the scales along with a few donuts in the bin.

This was the first year I was not fishing the GF, but you have to enter tournaments to qualify hey. After close to a full year off I look forward to chasing the series next year with gusto alongside some quality fishermen and friends to boot. The Basin Lure & Fly website has a good write up on the weekend, alongside full results for both the kayak and boating event. Props to Jim and Amy, hope your past efforts continue on...
