GAMAKATSU HOBIE FISHING SERIES - CLYDE RIVER, NSW
After last week's disappointing result in the Gamakatsu Hobie GTS Round at the Clyde River Batemans Bay I was in no hurry to put this report up. It was one of those days for me the moment I arrived in the car park, things just didn't go well from the get go. That's not to say it wasn't a good day on the water, more like a few things happened that decided my fate early on in the piece...

TOURNAMENT TRAVELS - CLYDE RIVER AND ALL IT'S BENDS
The home-grown advantage, the local knowledge, call it what you will. While the Clyde leg of the Daiwa Hobie Kayak Bream Series held this weekend is as close to my home ground as humanly possible I'm a literal stranger to the waterway. The Clyde is a mystifying place with anglers cracking smiles or constantly cracking whips. Fishing is not predicted to be easy but doable, time on the water here will set you apart from others.

DAIWA HOBIE KAYAK BREAM SERIES - MARLO REPORT
Well it has to be said, one of the best ABT rounds of all time. For anyone not in the know I am talking about the Marlo, Victoria round of the Daiwa Hobie Kayak Bream Series. Before this year's event the single biggest fish and two day bag limit of any kayak tournament anywhere was caught at Marlo. It was always going to be a hard task topping that one but 60+ competitors gave it their all in perfect conditions marrying mind body and fish together.

TOURNAMENT TRAVELS - ABT MAYHEM AT MAGIC MARLO
One tournament that gets me fired up more than most is on this weekend. A big dash after work but when you see the Bream on final days scorecard your sure to see why that 'Aint no thang'. Marlo in Victoria is home to some massive Black Bream, ABT kayak bag and size records and dedicated followers in the art of throwing expensive offerings to pigs of fish. This is the real deal folks, the Forster of Victoria and then some.
Normally I ramble on about what technique I am going to use and where I am going to go but this time i'm keeping it close to my chest. Partly because I am expecting the turnout to be huge, partly because there could be 10 World Qualifying spots up for grabs but mainly I am still a little undecided. Left or right, mouth or reaches the choice will be made on day one with a hopeful pattern cracked early.
I will say this though, lures will be long in size and skinny in profile, with an outfit suited for each application. There is one or two lures in the box that totally go against everything I just said, and they will be thrown, but you will have to tune into www.hobiefishing.com.au to see how I did come Sunday 2pm.
Bring it on.
