Every couple of months I get a great little email in my inbox from the NSW Council of Freshwater Anglers. It shares some great tips and news on fishing in my region along with whats going on in our waterways, both native and invasive. I thought I would share an interesting article about your rights when fishing inland waters (Particularly related to Trout anglers, and your duty of care). SQUIDGY SOUTHERN BREAM SERIES GRAND FINAL

Last weekend the grand final tournament weekend of the 2012 Squidgy Southern Bream Series was held and won at St Georges Basin/Shoalhaven River. I have heard the fishing was tough but the event spectacular, something the SSBS committee should be well and truly proud of. 50 boats and 25 kayakers took to the systems to fight it out for the podium with Stewart Dunn once again trumping the field.

E-LOCK & SWIVEL MOUNT LOCKS FOR SOUNDERS

Saw this mentioned on AKFF recently and thought the information may be of use to readers, especially those who have had gear stolen whilst out fishing. While I have no affiliation with the suppliers the credentials on the actual product seem sound and the security offered would be enough to deter opportunistic thieves at boat ramps/beaches etc. My only ponderings on this product would be how well it hands a salty enviroment (With the usual Inox protection) and how well the rubber cap seals.

2012 OZ CANOE & KAYAK COD FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS

For those anglers that are entering the 2012 Cod Classic the Australian Canoe and Kayak Fishing Championships will run in conjunction with the main event on Lake Mulwala / Murray River. To be qualify for the championship participants must be entered into the $90 Cod Classic and pay an additional $10 to enter the 'Canoe and Kayak' category. All fish caught in the championships will be eligible for entry into the Cod Classic itself with thousands of dollars and prizes up for grabs.

SEWAGE LEAK IN LAKE BURLEY GRIFFIN 21/9/12

The National Capital Authority (NCA) advises that Yarralumla Bay is closed to all uses following a minor discharge of raw sewage. The incident has been attended by NCA staff and lake management contractors, ACT Health, Environment Protection Agency, Roads ACT and ActewAGL. 

The leak has now been stopped and investigation into its source of the leak is underway. Water samples have been taken. A visual inspection appears to indicate the discharge has been contained to the Bay. The NCA will continue to closely monitor and will re-open the area as soon as test results are received.
