GAMAKATSU HOBIE FISHING SERIES 2013
GTS and Hobie announce the Gamakatsu Hobie Fishing Series for 2013.
Frogleys Offshore Director Michael Starkey commented, after discussions with Steve Fields at Hobie and other anglers GTS run by Australian Fishing Tournaments saw an opportunity to expand the GTS series with the help of Hobie and take up the gap left since the demise of the Southern Bream Series. "It is a great opportunity to get extra exposure South of Sydney" said Michael and "with Hobies help we hope to grow and function the same way as the current GTS series with both powerboats and kayaks getting a platform to competitively compete in but maintaining a social and fun tournament where anyone can give it a go".
In 2012 Hobie Fishing the Basin lure and fly struck a deal to have some rounds of the SSBS be qualifying rounds for the Hobie Kayak Fishing Series. This year with the change of direction in the SSBS left an opportunity and a void in Bream tournaments. Encouraged to fill this gap Hobie and GTS formed a partnership to see competitors have this series return said Hobie’s Steve Fields. The series will consist of 4 - 5 rounds which dates and venues will be released soon as well as a Semi-Final and then the GTS grand final with a boat package again up for grabs next year being located at Forster.
