THE WINTER SOLSTICE - HQ NOW ONLINE AGAIN

Photobucket

What busy times we have had...

All KFA members have been active enough over the last few weeks, with local fresh and saltwater results proving water temps and weather conditions can be your friend after all. The tournament Bream results have dropped a little overall (For all competitors) due to winters arrival but the bycatch has improved. Craig fished the SSBS round at the Shoalhaven River and landed some nice Jewies on very, very light gear. Bit of an effort really considering the Vapor got a workout on 4lb, taking up to 40 minutes to land the larger of the two. The last round of the SSBS in Sydney proved hard with donuts a plenty (Congratulations to the winners), leaving me wondering if the Lake Illawarra round will be the pick of the series.

Jason and Paddy have been hitting the Redfin in Lake Burley Griffin, sounding up and landing some above average specimens. While the fish havent been thick and fast some whoppers graced the decks with Squidder catching a massive 42cm Redfin (Big for LBG, trust me). Googong trip was a flop, not even a little tap over 6 hours between anglers. With the recent rough seas making way for perfect South Coast weather the Snapper are a little slow this year, sure they are around in numbers but the size of previous years is yet to be seen. Its not all doom and gloom there though, Luke 'Fishwhisperer' hit the Clyde recently and recieved a great Jewfish capture of just under a metre on his first cast! (Top fish mate, well done).

Me you ask, well times have been hectic to say the least. KFA has relocated to a new HQ, a new premises designed to fuel new mojos in all facets of life and we are finally online again. Claire and I are expecting the birth of our first child shortly so along with the house stuff I have been relegated to expectant fatherhood. Unfortunately it has put a strain on my Kayak Fishing Adventures but I endevour to travel to Jindabyne as often as possible next month. The Alpine lakes are really firing at the moment with both XOS Brook and Atlantic Salmon ex-broods a common capture. Be it fishing from the yak, finally testing my Stealth Serpent 34lb motor, or throwing some Powerbait from the bank I will always be a very happy chappy.

Tight lines all, tight lines...

NEW 'FISHING AUSTRALIA' SERIES STARTS 5/6/10

Photobucket

Hey Everyone at KFA,

Rob Paxevanos here: just a quick note to say that the new series of Fishing Australia Starts this Sat 5th June, and runs for 13 weeks. Plenty of good kayaking action both from my local area (Snowies, South Coast NSW) and further afield (Tas, WA, QLD etc). Some of the kayaking Highlights include (See below):

  • Clyde River "source to the sea" Great look at a surprisingly pristine system with some kayak EP, bream, flathead plus high tech jewfish action.
  • Fishing in remote WA for Queenfish, Trevs and Sharks: most remote kayak story we have run yet; and a real story behind the local yakers.
  • Kayaking on secret lake (Tas), Sail yakking and Clear water Murray Cod.

This week starts where many kayakers are most at home: fishing on rivers inaccessible to larger boats. My team and I take on a big journey bass fishing in the remote gorge country of the Macleay River with some interesting results and lots of adventure. Look out for the chopper shots of the Hobies in shallow water. The new series of FISHING AUSTRALIA starts this Saturday afternoon, 5th of June. The timeslots around the country are: 5pm on WIN Television in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS, and 4:30pm in WA. 5:30pm on Imparja, 2pm on NBN Television and 5pm on Channel Nine Adelaide and Perth. Check your local TV guide for exact details.

Hhope you enjoy the series, got to fly: 5 episodes left to film.
