DAWIA HOBIE BREAK KAYAK SERIES - BURRILL LAKE

 photo HobieLogo_zpsdaa4e31a.jpg

A strange location for some but a godsend for others, Burrill Lake captivated everyone's minds once the threat of major inclement weather wore off. A perfect waterway almost purpose built for kayaking played host to 27 brave souls ignoring glancing heavy winds and scattered showers. Reports on the area were slim to nill but this event had no prefish ban so I am assuming a few got out for some fish.

TOURNAMENT TRAVELS - BURRILL LAKE FROTH FRENZY

Photobucket

This Sunday's Daiwa Hobie ABT round should be a cracker, I Have a lot of fond memories of this place which will make this event super special. There are a couple of reasons why, but the main one is the amount of fishing I did here as a little fellow. Council shovel Flathead scones nailed to the gums around the boat ramp and cruising around on my dad's Quintrex Lazeabout 4.5. This is where I used to ask all the questions and receive funny answers, probably the first place I saw a Mr. Twister too.

DAIWA HOBIE KAYAK BREAM SERIES - NARRABEEN REPORT

Photobucket

Last weekend saw the ABT Daiwa Hobie bandwagon rock into Northern Sydney for a two day kayak fishing extravaganza at Narrabeen Lakes. Anticipation on the turnout from Sydney siders was high but unfortunately the rate of entry was a little low. Day one saw 43 anglers make the trek through the channel and towards the furthest reaches of the lake. Conditions were superb with overcast skies and a skerrick of wind.

TOURNAMENT TRAVELS - NEAR NORTH TO NARRABEEN

Photobucket

Revisiting Narrabeen Lakes has been on the cards for awhile now, mainly because I had a blinder of a session there a few years ago. Funny thing was I didn't weigh in a fish, oh and if I managed to one fish was top 10. Why go back then you ask, the amount of sub 25cm Bream on top water was ridiculous. I figure most of these bream are four years older now so should be well and truly legal, that and I have a better idea of where to go (Plus some decent bags have come out of there since).

GAMAKATSU HOBIE TEAM SERIES - ST GEORGES BASIN

Photobucket

While still flying under the Hobie banner, and run in conjunction with, this event was executed by the Gamakatsu Team Series. It may normally be a division of boating tournaments up and down the east coast of Australia, this year however sees kayaks included filling voids left by the now defunkt SSBS. The weigh in was different, some of the faces were new hat (Both boater and kayaker) but the venue was still clearly a classic favourite.
