EVERYONES UGLY - UGLY FISH ARMOUR (SAFETY GLASSES)

Photobucket

For the past few years I have been an Ugly Athlete, typically like most blokes I'm one for life anyway (well my missus thinks so). Trips away with mates fishing for days on end, no showers, no facilities and worst of all no mobile reception. Sure, every now and then trips away may involve cabin styled luxury but that doesn't mean I'm catching up on my beauty sleep now does it? More often than not its swagging under the stars freezing my nuts off or trying to cram myself into the boot of my car, all for the wants and needs of an angling junkie.

2012 DAIWA HOBIE KAYAK SERIES - SWAN RIVER, TAS

Photobucket

Round 8 of the Daiwa Kayak Series kicks returns to the southern waters of Tasmania. This is the TAS State titles and will be a popular round to enter. The Swan River holds some big fish and is a big draw card for locals and visitors alike. Some say Tassie holds the best Bream fishery in the country, if not the world (Easily the world IMO). This is the only Tasmanian round in the 2012 series so dont miss out what ever you do, GF spots are up for grabs. Will it be some gun local who scoops the Bream pools or some invading Mexican? (Please note: This event is being organised by ABT)

BLAST FROM THE PAST - MALLACOOTA TRIP 2008

Been browsing through the hundred + trip reports and found some real doozies, you know those memories that set your mind adrift remembering times gone by. Some had me daydreaming for hours and hours on end, many posted long ago. I will start bringing these to light in hope it inspires many to visit said destination/s, that or get people out and about writing about there experiences (Colourful or not).

The first one I would like to 'Bump' is a particular trip I made with family to Mallacoota back in 2008. While we have been frequently visiting areas close by I haven't had a chance to return. Its an amazing place and more often than not an amazing fishery. It was the trip that made me fall in love with Black Bream, since then I need a fix a few times a year (Brutish big blue bad boys).

2012 DAIWA HOBIE KAYAK SERIES - FORSTER, NSW

Photobucket

Round 7 of the Daiwa Kayak Series kicks returns for the second time this year to the rack city known as Forster. The first round of the series provided anglers with some serious challengers, this round will be no exception. This is the NSW State titles and remember folks, the more people that enter the more qualifying spots will be available for the Bemm River grand final. Will the tides bring the Bream milling in and around the dirty flats or will it push clear bruisers water hard against the wash boards and deep into the racks? (Please note: This event is being organised by ABT)

POLL RESULTS (RECENT) - WEIGH IN YAK TOURNAMENTS?

Photobucket

The latest poll asked readers if they had ever fished/entered in a livewell weigh in styled kayak fishing tournament. With the vast amount of tournament information on KFA I have been always been interested in how many readers had actually entered into one of these events. The voting number was small but it was interesting to note 12% had entered once, 25% had entered many and 62% had never entered.

My main goal with polls is finding out what readers relate to content wise and to interact with visitors to the site. A few years ago the whole kayak tournament scene was diismissed as some kind of fad, bound to fade and dissapear. Thanks to a few companies and there supporters the scene has blossomed out of control. I love them, mostly as I enjoy trying to better my past results (At return venues, see 'One trick pony' posts). The effort involved in chasing a dream can be quite expensive (For both parties) but the social scene makes it all worth wild, event after many donuts.

I must check how many I have attended? (And how many donuts I have eaten?).

Archived result:

HAVE YOU EVER ENTERED A LIVE WEIGH-IN STYLED YAK TOURNAMENT?

Yes, once: 12%
Yes, many: 25%
No, never: 62%
