VIC - WE ARE BOUND, MARLO BOUND

Had a great weekend away with Ronnie Sonter and his mate Dean fishing Marlo from end to end. Wish I could say the weather was better but it wasn't, so much fresh dumped in the system. Most days it blew gusts of over 30 knots easily and rained sporadically on and off.

The day I got there the boys were so overcome by the amount of water being taken into the back reaches by the tide that the basically abandoned hope of entering either lake (Turns out that was a wise decision). Friday we managed a windy few hours with some Estuary Perch making our nets. I have managed more than a few from here before but they were definitely relishing the conditions mother nature had thrown at them. They were everywhere, in good numbers and in good sizes to boot.

Saturday we trekked further than I have traveled before for a few Bream but with the Friday night shower drenching the outskirts the Snowy River turned Marlo into a chocolate Milkshake. There was bugger all Bream biting and we really couldn't do much except look for schools of EP's out the front and marvel at the size of some bad boy arches showing on the sounder (Jewfish? Sharks? Massive Tailor?).

Today was the pick of the weekend though with all three of us securing bags in the deeper water. Some great Bream were caught but not of the size Marlo is known for, probably a good thing otherwise come the ABT Hobie Grand Final/World series held in a month or two there would be some humongous fish missing out on greeting the Wieghmaster. Driving to Marlo takes me 5 hours if I stop for a break, 10 is obviously the return timetable.

With so many kms covered and bugger all sleep i'm a bit sore... I hate Mondays...
